STUDIOCANAL CELEBRATES BIGGEST EVER HOME ENTERTAINMENT BOW

Thursday 22nd March 2018 - STUDIOCANAL celebrates the company's biggest ever home entertainment bow with PADDINGTON 2, fully financed by the studio in partnership with Heyday Films. Charting at number one in both the Physical and Digital charts, PADDINGTON 2 marks STUDIOCANAL UK's strongest ever opening with over half a million units sold across all formats, and its highest ever digital sales total. PADDINGTON 2 looks set to retain the number one position in its second week and to dominate the retail landscape through the Easter Holiday

John Rodden, Head of Home Entertainment & Library comments: "Building on the film's tremendous box office success, we're delighted that UK audiences continue to welcome the politest bear from Peru into their homes and hearts. Opening sales on PADDINGTON 2 have been record-breaking for us, which is a remarkable testament to the enduring appeal of Paddington."

The much-anticipated sequel to the worldwide hit family film finds Paddington happily settled with the Brown family in London, where he has become a popular member of the local community, spreading joy and marmalade wherever he goes. While searching for the perfect present for his beloved Aunt Lucy's hundredth birthday, Paddington sees a unique pop-up book in Mr Gruber's shop, and embarks upon a series of odd jobs to buy it. But when the book is stolen, it's up to Paddington and the Browns to unmask the thief, who appears to be a master of disguise...

A Heyday Films and STUDIOCANAL production, PADDINGTON 2 is helmed by BAFTA nominated director Paul King (Paddington, Come Fly With Me, The Mighty Boosh) written by Paul King and Simon Farnaby (Paddington, Yonderland, Mindhorn). Produced by multi award-winning David Heyman (producer of all eight of the Harry Potter films, Gravity, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them)
